Born in Switzerland, Gilbert Rhême moved to Canada in 1965. He received his basic training at the Berne School of fine Arts, which explains why his avant-garde jewelry reveals so much imagination, harmony and intellectual curiosity. He started his career as an exhibition designer and art director. In 1975, he opened his own jewelry studio and sold his pieces across Canada. In 1982, he narrowed his scope and devoted his efforts to creating unique pieces and limited editions. Increasingly attracted to the application of new technologies, his research included creative glass, hydroforming, sculptured neon and diamond appreciation. Rhême has been exhibiting extensively in Canada, the United States and Europe. In addition to his research and creations, he taught his art at the École de Joaillerie de Montréal for many years. His path in life has allowed him to put the sum of his skills and experience to work for the creation of the exciting and high-end Rhême jewelry that one expects from a designer who is constantly pursuing excellence. |
